Felix Annan has been performing well for Asante Kotoko and the 24-year-old has been one of the key players for the Reds in the CAF Confederation Cup this season.

Annan joined Asante Kotoko from WAFA SC and had to fight his way through the team, and he hasn’t left the first eleven since he entered the first team three seasons ago.

The diminutive shot-stopper makes the job hard for strikers, but little will you know that he started his career as a striker.

Annan told CAFonline.com that he started out as a striker when he was a younger player, but he was moved to the goalkeeper's role due to a circumstance – a move he never appreciated but took to it with diligence.

“I started as a striker at a youth club in Achimota. As if by fate, something happened during one of our games and that changed my destiny on the pitch.

“There was a time our goalkeeper failed to turn up for an important game and my coach asked me to keep the post.

“I gave a good account of myself that day and have never looked back. Initially, I didn’t like the idea, but after a couple of matches I grew into loving my new position and here am I today."

The 24-year old has however proven that it was a good choice to change positions as he has enjoyed much success at the goalposts.

He has received call-ups to the various national teams and was part of the Black Stars B squad that won the WAFU Championship.

The budding keeper has also has been called up for the Black Stars upcoming Afcon qualifier against Kenya on March 23.
