Asante Kotoko has announced plans to resume all sporting activities after the burial of Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, a fan who was killed during their last game.

Addressing the press on February 24, the Communication Director of the Porcupines, Lawyer Sarfo Duku, justified the decision after earlier indications suggested that they would stay away from football until justice is served.

According to him, the decision is to avoid any interruption in the CAF calendar.

“I would like to declare that, based on the happenings, Asante Kotoko shall be ready for action after the burial and final funeral rite of the late Nana Pooley. We have players we have to pay, and we have a CAF calendar to meet.”

He also noted that the decision has been made known to their fans.

“They always take part in the meeting with all the stakeholders.”

Following the killing of Nana Pooley at Nsoatre on February 2, the Reds suspended their participation in all football activities except for the juvenile team and players recovering from injuries.

In a statement on February 4, 2025, the club said the decision was taken by Management and would not be changed until justice is served over the death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.
Last week, Kotoko announced the resumption of training by all players.
