Although Manchester United’s desire to have Juventus player Paul Pogba has hit a snug over the fee to be pain, manager Jose Mourinho wants the deal to be wrapped up.
The 23-year-old is said to be interested in United’s contract offer of £250,000 a week for five years for him and would relish the chance to return to the club he left in 2012 although he is not in a hurry to leave the ‘Old ladies of Italian football’-Juventus.
Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had hoped a meeting with Juventus directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici as well as the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, on Tuesday would have sealed the deal but with the offer turned down, the red devils must decide if they want to spend a world record fee for the midfielder who has four Serie A titles and a 2015 Champions League final under his belt.
Manchester United’s first offer for Paul Pogba is worth £100m with £13m of that in performance-related add-ons. The Serie A club however wants United to pay £100m with a further £8m in add-ons, which would make the Frenchman the most expensive player ever.
Manchester United already have secured Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Real Madrid remain the only other club the player could join but coach Zinedine Zidane stated he is content with his team.
