The 2016 Inter-Platoon Novices Boxing Competition for Standard Military Course Intake 57 will end tomorrow, at the Addico Square of the Military Academy in Accra.

The three-day event which began yesterday would have 61 cadets battling it out for glory for their various platoons.

The three platoons are Abyssinia, Burma and the Chiringa platoons with both male and female representatives competing in various weight categories.

Day one of the event witnessed nine intense bouts in three weight categories, Lightweight, Bantamweight and Welterweight.

The Abyssinia platoon began the competition on a very bright note winning most of the bouts the first day and would be hoping to emerge winners at the end of the entire competition.

But the Burma and Chiringa platoons are gradually warming up into the event and would be hoping to give Abyssinia a run for their money on the final day.

According to the Chief Training Officer of the Academy, Lieutenant Col. Richard Mensah, the event forms part of the training program for the cadets.

He added that, at the end of Friday’s event, there would be trophies for the Best Boxer (Male and Female) and the wining platoon.

The Guest of Honour for the event is Brig Gen Kwame Oppong-Kyekyeku(RTD) and would be supported by other dignitaries including Deputy Commander of the Academy, Col Awuah Mantey who was the Guest of Honour on Wednesday.

It promises to be an engaging and entertaining event on the grand finale as the best of the platoons would be facing each other squarely for glory.
