Asante Kotoko’s only hope of a silverware this season was extinguished after they were beaten in a shootout 4-5 by Berekum Chelsea in Sundays’ MTN FA CUP quarter-final tie in Obuasi.

The Porcupines in the first half were awarded a penalty but Fabio Gama missed from the spot to put his outfit ahead.

After both sides failed to find the winner in 90 minutes of regulation time and an adding 30 minutes of extra time, the match went to penalties.

Chelsea showed their superiority in the shootout to eliminate Kotoko, moving into the semifinals of the MTN FA Cup.

They will face AshantiGold in the last 4.

In the other quarterfinals match, Medeama had to leave it late to knockout Attram De Visser Soccer Academy at the Akoon Park, Tarkwa.

The Mauve and Yellows recorded a 3-2 win over the lower tier side.

It was 2-2 after 90 minutes of football at the Akoon Park before Medeama cemented their place in the semi-finals in the second half of extra time.

Goals from Benjamin Arthur and Amed Toure either side of the half saw the Premier League side two a 2-0 lead.

However, the lower-tier side rallied from behind to send the game into extra time after Anim Joshua's brace.

Any hopes of Attram De Visser causing an upset at the Akoon Park were dashed as Prince Opoku Agyemang scored from the penalty spot in the 109th minute which proved to be the match-winner.

Medeama have set up a clash with Hearts of Oak in the semifinal after their victory.Â
