Paris 2024: Team Ghana disqualified from 4x100m relay after baton fail

The organizers of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics have disqualified Ghana’s 4x100m men’s relay team after a botched baton changeover.

Team Ghana was disqualified for making the baton change outside the 'right' zone. 

The team of Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini and Joseph Paul Amoah had finished 6th which meant they won't be making it to the final.

After a review, it was discovered that Team Ghana made a baton change that went beyond the "blue box".

They were subsequuently disqualified.

China won the heat with a time of 38.24 seconds with France and Canada finishing second and third respectively in a time of 38.34 seconds and 38.39 seconds respectively.

The top three finishers qualify automatically to the finals; In Heat One, the United States of America, France and Great Britain finished in the top three spots accordingly.
