Ghana wins historic ultimate yellow jersey in Ivory Coast

Team Ghana has made history by winning a yellow Jersey at an international competition for the first time as Anthony Boakye maintained his resilience since snatching the ultimate in the team trial race, from Ivorian Kabre Daniel on Thursday to win the competition.
The LA route de lest in Ivory Coast ended today with Boakye keeping the jersey after an outstanding piece of sprinting to become the best by time cyclist.
 
After the race on Thursday( from Koun-FAO to Tanda), a total distance of 686.8Km had been covered with Boakye snatching the yellow Jersey from the Ivorian following a cumulative time made since the beginning of the competition.
 
The Ghanaian made a time of 16 hours, 42 minutes and 29 seconds to grab the yellow Jersey.The team time trial on the day covered a distance of 40km with Ghana winning with a time of 54mins, 02secs.
 
The stage was then set for the final event on Friday(an 80km race of eight lapses) which saw an explosive performance from the Ghanaians to dominate the competition.
 
Team Ghana also won the team trial race and also kept the title of best team in the competition. The yellow jersey comes with a prize of 200,000 CFA, while the over all cash prize for the tour is 2.2million CFA.
