Samuel Takyi has become the latest Ghanaian boxer to win his fight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after Sulemanu Tetteh.
Samuel Takyi on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's featherweight event with a unanimous decision over Caicedo Carlos from Ecuador.
The 20-year-old Takyi dominated his contest and took all five judges' scorecards in the men's 52-57kg featherweight fight.
His victory adds to Sulemanu Tetteh triumph over Dominican Republic’s Rodrigo Marte on Monday.
Sulemanu Tetteh defeated Marte by split decision in the flyweight division.
Three of the judges ruled in favour of the Black Bomber captain who started slowly but gradually warmed himself into the fight.
"They are all happy we won this fight but we still know that there is a couple of fights to be won to get into the medal zone and we asking Ghanaians to pray for us," he said
Meanwhile, another Ghanaian boxer Shakul Samed will mount the ring at 11:20am hoping to make it third out of three for the nation. Shakul Samed will be coming up against Malkan Bayram fro Turkey.Â
