The National Capital Velo Club (NCVC), a US-based cycling club has donated riding kits to the women's national cycling team.

The presentation which was held at the offices of the Ghana Olympic Committee in Accra, included 20 jerseys and a set of boots.

Presenting the items on behalf of NCVC, David Stealy of Velo Stars Cycling Club in Accra asked the female team to ensure they put the items to good use.

“This forms part of our efforts to support cycling in Ghana especially the female riders in order for them to excel. With the kits, they would be able to step out and compete for honours for the country,” he stated.

Secretary General of the National Cycling Federation, Dennis Kweku Moore who received the items expressed appreciation to the club for their support.

According to him, there are numerous female talents in cycling but they all lack the necessary support to showcase their talents.

Also present were officials of the GOC, Theophilus Edzi and Christiana Asare who called on other entities to support the associations to develop and win laurels for the country. In a related development, IQRA limited, a leading bicycle shop in Accra, also donated a bicycle to the female team.
