Jamestown was literally drowned in fun and ecstasy over the weekend by the 2017 edition of the Chalewote festival.
Thousands of revelers thronged the streets to look at the beautiful art and culture exhibited at the event. Others stayed late into the night on Saturday to dance their hearts out.

One event at the festival that has always attracted a lot of attention is the boxing competition, where only minors are allowed. A makeshift human ring is made for children often under the age of 15 to battle with each other, perhaps in the quest to discover the next Azumah Nelson.
This year's boxing competition was surprising as it was exciting, not even the certainty of receiving some heavy knocks could deter the children from picking up the gloves.

Others were a bit more cautious and professional, choosing to put on protective clothing to limit the impact of blows to their heads.Â

Well, Ghana has not seen any major improvement in the sport since the likes of Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey hanged their gloves, who knows, in the coming years, one of these kids could once again lift high the name of the country on the international boxing stage.
