West African Football Academy(WAFA) are gradually cementing a place in the Ghana Premier League as the team to beat after going tops of the league following an emphatic 3-0 victory over struggling AshantiGold in Sogakope on Wednesday.

The academy boys have taken a 'comfortable lead' on top with 20 points and are fired up to maintaining their spot till the end of the season.

WAFA have enjoyed a remarkable campaign especially at home where they dominated and ensured they clinched all three points.

Goals from usual culprits,Prince Obeng Ampim, Daniel Lomotey and Gideon Waja sealed the victory for WAFA in their midweek encounter.

The team is currently building up from where they stopped last season when they exhibited some great football and produced, arguably, a key member of the national team, the Black Stars, Samuel Tetteh.

Formally known as Feyenoord, the team is looking forward to winning the league for the first time in the history of the club.

WAFA,leading with a two point gap,are followed by Aduana Stars and Kotoko for the second and third positions respectively while Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak are fourth and fifth in that order.
