Amazon has unveiled new versions of its Echo smart speakers boosted by improved sound and voice recognition features.
While smaller than its predecessor and benefiting from a dedicated bass tweeter, the new Echo version gives users the opportunity to change the frames or shell of the devise in a way to renew its outlook (a similar feature of which is found in rival Google's Home device).
Other features in the new Echo speakers includes a "home hub", that allows it to control smart light bulbs and other third-party products without an external data-linking device, a screen – that enables video calls and camera feeds.
The new speakers also marks Amazon’s effort to revamp the Echo family in its products line.
However, according to a report by estimated Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, the Echo family accounts for an estimated 75% of the US market for internet-connected speakers with built-in smart assistant functionality and has as of September 28, 2017 sold at least 15 million devices.
