Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by Elon Musk, has announced pricing details for its products in Ghana.
According to the company’s website, the pricing plans include Residential (best for households) starting from GHS 770, Roam (ideal for RVs, nomads, and campers) starting from GHS 1,540, and Boats (suitable for maritime emergency response and mobile businesses) starting from GHS 4,428.
Including taxes, Ghanaians will pay GHS 770 per month for the basic plan, with a one-time equipment cost of GHS 5,390.
This announcement follows the recent approval by the National Communications Authority (NCA) for Starlink to begin operations in Ghana, as part of efforts to improve internet connectivity across the country.
In a statement dated August 22, 2024, the NCA confirmed that Starlink will officially launch its services in Ghana by the end of August, after successfully completing all necessary administrative and licensing procedures with the Authority
Here's a breakdown of the service plans available and their costs.
Standard Plan:
Priced at GH₵770 per month, this plan offers unlimited data, ideal for household usage.
Priority Plan:
At GH₵1,078 per month, this option provides unlimited standard data, with added features like public IP access, network priority, and priority support. It's designed for businesses or users with high data demands.
Mobile Plan:
Starting from GH₵1,540 per month, this plan targets remote workers, campers, and businesses operating across different locations. It includes unlimited mobile data within the country, and prices increase based on the level of priority data required.
Mobile Priority Plan:
Aimed at maritime users, emergency responders, and mobile businesses, this plan offers specialised features like inland and ocean use data, network priority, and priority support. The cost ranges from GH₵4,428 per month for 50GB of data to GH₵17,710 per month for 1TB of data.
In addition to the subscription costs, customers will have to purchase the necessary hardware which costs GH₵5,390 and shipping costs of an extra GH₵354.
