BoG Governor Dr. Ernest Addison proceeds on terminal leave ahead of retirement

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison is set to begin his terminal leave on February 3, 2025, ahead of his official retirement from the central bank on March 28, 2025.

Dr. Addison, who was first appointed as Governor on April 3, 2017, and reappointed for a second term on March 29, 2021.

His departure aligns with the provisions of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), as amended, which stipulates the tenure of the central bank’s Governor.

According to an official statement from the Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Addison has opted to take his accumulated leave before his retirement, a decision that has received the approval of President John Dramani Mahama.

The Bank of Ghana expressed its gratitude for Dr. Addison’s meritorious and distinguished service to both the institution and the nation, extending best wishes for a restful retirement.
