An Accra Circuit Court has adjourned the case of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and his team to December 7, 2021.

The Circuit Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh also ordered the Prosecution to release the mobile phones taken away from Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale and his team members.

The police seized their mobile phones as part of investigations.

The phones were released upon the request of their lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbor, who argued it amounted to a breach of their fundamental human rights.

Even though the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey was opposed to the release of the phones, the court asked for them to be released.

Judge Emmanuel Essandor thus ruled that “It is not the work of the defense to help the prosecution to do their case. After all, the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. The phones of the accused should be released to them. The alleged offences were allegedly made on social media.”

The case of Shatta Wale’s other colleague musician, Samuel Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has ALSO been adjourned to December 7.

Medikal was picked up by personnel from the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly brandishing a gun on social media.

Shatta Wale is on a self-recognisance bail of GHS100,000 after spending a week in police custody.

He pleaded not guilty to the publication of false news and causing fear and panic when he first appeared in court last week.

The other three were also charged with abetment of crime and were also admitted to GHS100,000 bail each with one surety, who should be a public servant.

The man of God known as "Jesus Ahoufe" who prophesied on the shooting attack on the dancehall artist Shatta Wale, that turned out to be a hoax has since been arrested and granted bail.
