The Electoral Commission (EC) of the University of Ghana (UG) Student Representative Council (SRC) has disqualified Ghanaian rapper Guru (Maradona Yeboah Adjei) from the student presidential race.

In justifying the disqualification, the UG EC cited Article 30, which states that candidates who qualify to be elected must be residents of a hall on campus and must qualify to contest for a JCR position in their hall.

Guru and his running mate, Jeffery Adu Yeboah, have therefore been disqualified from the race after they confirmed during vetting that they are not residents of any hall.

The campaigns by Guru and his team made many people believe that they might win the 2024 election.

The latest development is a setback for Guru and his running mate towards realising their dreams of student leadership.

This announcement comes as a surprise to the rapper, who believes he has what it takes to change the fortunes of students at the University of Ghana.
