Ghana’s rockstar Eugene Kwame Marfo affectionately known as Kuami Eugene has debunked rumors that he steals songs from other artistes.

The highlife singer said he rather samples songs that Ghanaians are not familiar with.  He believes the media fuels the ignorance of people about music sampling by talking about it repeatedly.

In an interview on Thursday, October 21 2021 on DaybreakHitz the musician maintained that he is not tired and does not hate anyone who calls him a 'song thief'.

The “Ohemaa” hitmaker is of the view people are obsessed with him, the more reason they constantly talk about him whenever he drops a hit song trying to match it with already existing one's.

Kuami Eugene further said he only has to seek permission from the original owners of the songs. When he’s granted a permit, he does not see why he should explain to others who do not understand his work of sampling songs.

“If I seek for clearance before sampling, it’s between me and the original owner of the song. I don’t have to explain to anybody”.
Music sampling is a process by which a musician or record producer uses a portion of an existing song in a brand new recording, looping it and layering it with new music in a new context.it is normally viewed by people outside music as stealing but with legal factors involved, it’s not stealing.

Kuami Eugene is one of the artistes who have been mostly accused over the years of song theft.

Recently, a Ghanaian female singer, Bhadext Cona, accused the Lynx Entertainment signee of stealing a song she wanted to feature, Kuami Eugene.
