Ghanaian artiste and producer David Kwamena Bolton otherwise known as D’kaybee has said numbers lie on social media, are worthless and a waste of money.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, D’Kaybee agreed with the topic in discussion 'numbers do lie' on the review segments on the DaybreakHitz.

D'Kaybee said that he believes it’s not worth the money and time to buy fake followers on social media only to impress people who don’t exist in reality.

“It’s pointless to buy fake followers on social media. It’s not authentic. It’s just like buying a nonexistent fan base on social media,” he stressed.

He further noted that many a time people try to look good in the eyes of their acclaimed fan base hence they go through all heights to excite them when they know they won’t be able to sustain it.

“You can buy 100,000 followers, likes, and comments easily on Instagram. At the end of the day, who are you going to impress? It’s not something you can sustain for a long time,” he stressed.

However, he mentioned that boosting is not the same as buying fake followers.

He maintained that boosting a post is another form of advertisement which helps to promote businesses. He explained that although there’s a cost to boosting of account, it only helps you reach your target audience faster and also get your content to reach your target.

He ended by saying that, when a follower likes your photo, it doesn’t really mean the person is a fan. It might just be that that particular post or photo is of interest to them, he said.

“It takes a lot of work to convert someone from being a mere follower into being a true fan,” he said.
