Ghanaian gospel singer Joe mettle has disclosed that he didn’t not send an application for a nomination to this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, VGMA but his manager did on his behalf.
According to him, it came to him as a surprise when he saw his name amongst the nomination lists for the Artiste of the Year category.
However, he believes that there's a criteria for which the award scheme use to nominate musicians and if they think you fit a certain category, you will definitely be nominated for it.
Speaking on Hitz FM, Joe Mettle maintained that everyone nominated for the artiste of the year category has a chance of winning it.
He further said he was not very happy with the rising comments from his colleague artistes who believed he doesn’t deserve to be in that category but he also stated that he is not bothered because it is a normal thing.
He accepts that not everyone will be happy to see you shine.
Joe went on to debunk assertions that he has not worked hard enough in the past year to merit the nomination.
He contended that he has been working but people do not see it because he doesn’t put it on social media.
Joseph Mettle won VGMA Artiste of the Year in 2017. He became the first Gospel musician to win the award in his genre.
