Fourteen people are reported died in a motor accident at Gomoa Mprumeim near Apam on the Cape Coast – Accra Highway in the central region.

The accident involved a sprinter bus and an articulated truck with registration number GE 3282- X which was travelling from Accra towards the Cape Coast section of the road Sunday afternoon.

According to reports 14 people made up of 12 females and two males were among the passengers on board the sprinter bus with registration number GM 1129- 16 which was heading towards Accra from the Cape Coast section of the road.

The bodies have been deposited at the Central Regional hospital morgue.

The accident is said to have happened when the driver of the articulated truck lost control of the steering wheel thereby veering into the lane of the oncoming sprinter bus resulting in a head-on collision.

It took the police and the fire service several hours to get the passengers out of the mini bus as they got trapped in there after the car had tumbled several times.

The police are therefore calling on road users to observe traffic rules in ending the numerous accidents happening in the region especially on the Cape Coast – Accra Highway.
