The Ghana Police Service has invited Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Kumasi-based radio and television presenter, to assist in an investigation related to the publication of false news.

This follows the circulation of a video on social media, which shows Asiedu at the studios of Wontumi FM in Kumasi “falsely” urging the public to vote for presidential candidates on separate dates during the upcoming December 2024 elections.

The police have stated that such misinformation could disrupt public peace and urged the media to exercise responsibility in their reporting.

Oheneba Nana Asiedu is expected to report to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The police emphasized the importance of caution and integrity in media practice, particularly as the nation approaches the election period.

They warned that spreading false news could seriously affect public order before, during, and after the elections.
