Police in Kyebi in the Eastern Region have arrested a 58-year-old woman and her household for allegedly trading in substances suspected to be marijuana, a banned substance.

The woman, Akua Saa, allegedly slapped the Kyebi District Police Commander, Chief Supt. Magnus Reindorf Sam, when he was arresting her son, Frederick Sarkodie, and three others who were allegedly engaging in the trading of narcotics.

Apart from the 58-year-old woman, other members of the household who were arrested are: a 28-year-old lady identified only as Margaret; Kingsley Sarkodie, 22; Vivian Saa, 33; Fiago Gilbert, 38; and Frederick Sarkodie.

They were arrested at Akyem Sagyimase in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region, reports indicate. 

The Police arrested the suspects in a swoop led by the Kyebi Police Commander with 20 armed policemen.

The woman allegedly prevented the Police from arresting his son in a struggle and ended up slapping the commander.

The Police managed to retrieve 20 wraps of substances suspected to be narcotics, several dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, a lighter, and a knife from the suspects.
