Akufo-Addo salutes Togbe Afede

Presdential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has congratulated the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV on his election an the Presdient of the National House Of Chiefs (NHC).

Togbe Afede in an election held in Kumasi on Thursday, beat Awulae Attibrukusu, Paramount Chief of Lower Axim in the Western Region, had 11, Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin III, and Nana Kobina Nketsia V, the Omanhen of Essikado Traditional Area to succeed  Naa Professor J.S. Nabila, who was stepping down after eight years in office.

In a brief statement, the NPP Presidential Candidate was confident that Togbe Afede's "wealth of experience" would be brought to bear in the "discharge of his duties to the House".

This is to congratulate warmly Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of the Asogli State, on his election as the President of the National House of Chiefs, which took place on Thursday, November 24, 2016. His predecessor, Naa Professor John Nabila, is also to be commended for steering the affairs of the House successfully over the last 8 years. 

I am confident that Togbe Afede XIV will bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties to the House, and in the shaping of the national discourse, as we seek to build a progressive and prosperous nation.

I wish him well.
