President Akufo-Addo is set to commission the completed Jamestown Fishing Harbour project on Friday, September 13, Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, Eugene Arhin, has announced.

The project forms part of the government’s infrastructure development for the fishing industry.

The harbour includes cold storage units, processing facilities, a net mending bay, and administrative offices.

These additions are expected to enhance productivity for fishermen and fishmongers in the area, providing them with better tools for preserving and processing their catch.

According to Mr. Arhin, the project was initiated as part of the government’s broader agenda to improve the livelihoods of those in the fishing industry, while also promoting economic growth in coastal communities.

The fishing harbour is expected to serve as a vital hub for the fishing economy, creating jobs and boosting local businesses in the Jamestown area.

The commissioning of the Jamestown Fishing Harbour will be led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who will officially open the facility to the public.

“Jamestown Fishing Harbour completed; and will be commissioned on Friday by President Akufo-Addo,” he posted.

This development is seen as a fulfillment of the government’s promise to provide modern infrastructure to support the fishing sector, a crucial industry in Ghana’s coastal regions.
