Director of the Bureau of National Investigation, BNI, William Akwasi Appiah has been relieved of his duty.
Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah confirming the news to the Media stated that "There has been some changes. We are issuing a statement to that effect soon.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the BNI headquarters in Accra Thursday afternoon.
The reason behind the decision is yet to be disclosed.
However, reports indicate that it is related to the arrest and subsequent grant of bail of NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho.
The NDC executive was picked up by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Tuesday for making certain 'treasonable' comments and spent two nights in the BNI custody.
