The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has revealed a Chinese woman, alleged to be one of the kingpins of illegal mining in Ghana is legally married to a Ghanaian man.
Asia Hueng, popularly known as Aisha, it emerged last week has been blackmailing top Ghanaian politicians and security officials with sex tapes when attempts are made to arrest her.
Managing Editor of the New Crusading Newspaper, Kweku Baako who made the disclosure said Aisha had been arrested on three occasions, but secured her release at all times by threatening to release videos of sexual encounters with some top guns.
Mr Baako's revelation has led to the fourth arrest of Aisha and some four other Chinese Nationals who continued mining in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region despite a ban on small scale mining.
Confirming the arrest of Aisha, the Comptroller General at the Ghana Immigration Service, Kwame Asuah Sakyi said "we picked information about this lady called Aisha so we immediately had to take effective action and arrest her. We sought permission from the Minister of Interior and his deputy, Ambrose Dery and Henry Quartey and they gave instruction to quickly arrest her".
Aisha and her cohorts are currently in police custody pending further investigations.
But according to Mr Sakyi, though a possible repatriation was on the cards for the four, Aisha's would have to be treated differently because their checks suggest she is married to a Ghanaian and holds an indefinite residence permit.
The husband, he stated, is however out of the country and is expected to return in June.Â
