The General Secretary of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev Emmanuel T. Barigah has described as offensive, comments made by the Education Minister that their position on the Comprehensive Sexuality Education programme is 'ignorance'.
According to him, the Minister suggesting that they should verify information on the CSE programme is an insult.
This follows widespread speculations that the government intends to roll out a Comprehensive Sexuality Education programme in basic schools.

Reacting to the issue yesterday, Education Minister charged the clergy and religious leaders to verify facts before jumping into conclusions
''There are faith-based organizations of the GES and National Council for Curriculum Assessment governing councils to help ensure that our curriculum is aligned to the values of the nation. We appeal to the general public and all faith-based organizations to exercise restraint and verify the fact of official government policy before making public pronouncement''.
Speaking on Starr FM, General Secretary of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev Emmanuel T. Barigah charged the government, to be honest with its citizenryÂ
''The waters are not clear. What he said yesterday totally contradicts the earlier statement in beginning of the year about sex education in basic schools. Sometimes our ministers of state must be very candid with us and give us a modicum of respect. To suggest that religious leaders have not read any document and are coming out to make uninformed statements, for me its an insult. The general public has heard it so its up to them to make the judgment''.Â
However, the acting General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Gifty Apambil says the country must be able to influence and have detailed knowledge of engagements by NGOs within the country, stating that NGOs are given free licences to operate in the country's educational system by organizing workshops and communicate content to teachers and pupils which the GES does not have control of .
She also indicated that the Ghana National Associaton of Teachers is meeting today to deliberate over the Comprehensive Sexuality Education programme.
