Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has visited the family of the late Constable Daniel Owusu to commiserate with them.
He was there in the company of the Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery and the Inspector-General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu.
The late officer was shot dead by some criminals at Lapaz in Accra on Thursday 13, July 2017 while on patrol duties.
Constable Daniel Owusu and another officer – Djibril Alhassan – were on community policing duties. They had tried to chase down two robbers fleeing on a motorbike on the N1 highway.
Mr Alhassan was shot and sustained injuries, but Mr Owusu suffered multiple gunshots wounds and died later in hospital.
Meanwhile, IGP, Mr Asante-Appeatu has set an amount of Ghc 10,000 for any person(s) who can volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits.
Dr Bawumia sent warm greetings from the President to the family and assured them of government support.
