Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom reveals he lost $2m in a day

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom covers the April issue of Forbes Africa as he speaks about losing $2 million in a day.

The business consultant and leader of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom is the April personality for Forbes Africa Magazine.

Dr Nduom, a Ghanaian serial entrepreneur with over 60 businesses under his portfolio is featured on the cover of the leading publication in a black suit with an unassuming smile and his signature moustache.

In a revealing interview with the magazine, the C.E.O of Groupe Nduom sheds light on his humble beginnings as car park attendant to becoming the first Ghanaian to own a bank in the United States. He also speaks about his first encounter with billionaire and mining magnate, Sir Sam Jonah and how their rendezvous led him to become the West African partner of Deloitte Consulting.

The 64-year-old (born Joseph Hubster Yorke Jr.) is the second Ghanaian to cover the magazine after Sir Sam Jonah also revealed that he owes a $2 million worth of business. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a Master's degree in Management and PhD from the same university.

Papa Kwesi Nduom served as the Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) from 2004 to 2008 on the ticket of the Convention’s People’s Party and later contested the 2008 Presidential elections on the part’s ticket. He, however, lost the elections with less than 1% of the popular vote cast and broke away in 2012 to form the Progressive People’s Party.

He concurrently served as Minister for Energy and Minister for Public Sector Reform under the erstwhile Kufuor-led administration although he wasn’t a member of the New Patriotic Party. He owns the GN bank, Coconut Groove hotels in Accra, Obuasi and Elmina, Ghana premier league team, Elmina Sharks, Yorke Properties, Today Newspaper, Nduom University and much more.

Papa Kwesi Nduom is married to Yvonne Nduom and they’re blessed with three sons and a daughter; Nana Kweku, Edjah, Chief and Nana Aba Nduom
