Management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has said a publication claiming that the Huahi Tutuwaa Royal Family has won a court case in a disputed land issue is inaccurate.

In a press statement issued and signed by KNUST Deputy Registrar, Dr Daniel Norris, the university explained that the Huahi Tutuwaa Royal Family led by Head of Family, Kwame Konadu Yiadom, dragged one Yaw Acheampong and the Lands Commission to court seeking a number of reliefs, including a declaration by the court that the Family is the rightful owner of a parcel of land.

However, KNUST said that suit was deceptive was filed without their knowledge.

KNUST also claims to be the lawful owners of the disputed parcel of land.

“The action against Yaw Acheampong and Lands Commission for the land was done at the blind side of the Management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); the lawful owners of the land, granted to it by the Government of Ghana.

“KNUST’s investigations revealed that the Family connived and colluded with the said Yaw Acheampong to mount the said action to claim portions of lands belonging to KNUST. The said Yaw Acheampong deliberately and intentionally evaded the averments contained in Huahi Tutuwaa Royal Family’s Statement of Claim leading to a default judgement in favour of the plaintiff,” the university alleged.

According to the school, it has since February 19, 2021, brought an action against the Head of Family of the Huahi Tutuwaa Royal Family, Kwame Konadu Yiadom, Yaw Acheampong and the Lands Commission.

The University is warning the public against any land-related dealings with the Royal Family or their agent, Milton Investments Ltd.
