The entire Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange project is expected to be ready for handing over to the government by the end of this month.

According to the consultants, 94 per cent of the work had been completed as of September 2016 and they were determined to hand over the project to the government by the end of this month.

The project, which is being funded with a loan from the Brazilian government and is being executed by Queiroz Galvao, a Brazilian company, is expected to ease traffic and reduce travel time for commuters when completed.

Work so far

Currently, the flyover from the Busy Internet end of the Ring Road to the Obetsebi-Lamptey Roundabout has been completed, while the lane marking and street lights have also been done.

“What is left is the down pipe drains that will take water from the top to the drains and to the main gutters. That is ongoing,” the Assistant Chief Resident Engineer, Mr Philip K. Ansah, told the Daily Graphic in an interview yesterday.

He said the other parts of the project that were yet to be completed were the approaches, the service roads, the ground works and the landscaping.

The approaches, he explained, were the ends of both sides of the flyover that continued with the road.

He said the contractors were working beyond normal times to be able to complete the work “for us to inspect before we hand it over to our client, the government,” reports graphic.com.gh.
