Ministry of Interior Advisory Board inaugurated

A nine-Member Advisory Board has been inaugurated to direct the Ministry of Interior on adjustments in policy, planning and operational strategies.

The board led by a High Court Judge, Justice Kwaku Ackaah Boafo, to administer the oath of secrecy and office is also charged to serve as a bridge to between the Ministry and users of its services for effective delivery of mandates.

Members of the Advisory Board include Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, and his deputy, Henry Quartey, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Adelaide Anno-Kumi, and Director in charge of Operations, Ghana Police Service Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini Suraji.

The rest are, the Deputy Minister for Finance, Kwaku Kwarteng, Stephen Frimpong Mensah, Captain Retired Anthony Kwesi Acquah, Mrs Evelyn Keelson and Branford Sekyi-Djan.

Ambrose Dery said Section 39 of the Civil Service Act, 1993(PNDCL 327) mandates the Ministry to establish a Ministerial Advisory Board to help in policy planning and direction.

He said their mandate affects the entire spectrum of security, from policy to planning and operational strategies, saying security underpins all aspects of national life in that without that none of the citizens could go about his/her legitimate business.

Chairman of the Board, Ambrose Dery, noted that the country aims at maintaining peace and security to facilitate business and trade in order to attract investment to accelerate development in the country.

He also emphasized that, the country attracts all manner of persons because of its peaceful environment and that while the ECOWAS protocol does not permit Ghana to shut its doors to other countries, there was the need to encourage persons who come into the country to abide by the laws and regulations.

Interior Minister Ambrose Dery said security was a shared responsibility and as such vowed to support and work with stakeholders such as the civil societies, security experts, National Peace Council to ensure peace prevails in the country.
