Over 36,000 BECE candidates have missed out on Senior High School placement and as such may not enjoy Government’s free SHS policy.
The Computerized School Selection Placement Secretariat (CSSPS) said these students scored a grade 9 in either English or Mathematics.
In a statement, the CSSPS announced it had placed 424,092 who qualified after WAEC released this year’s BECE results.

Out of that number 267,327 secured schools in places of their choice while 15,770 could not be placed in schools of their choice.
The statement said the academic year will begin on 11 September 2017 and all first-year students are expected to report to their schools on that day.
The free SHS programme is scheduled to start with the 2017/2018 academic year in September.
