Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt has expressed worry over the conduct of Members of Parliament anytime Presidents stand on the floor of the House to deliver the State of the Nation Address.

Kwesi Pratt noted the attitude of MPs during SONAs does not speak well of them as honorable Members of Parliament.

According to him, the attitude of heckling the President anytime a side of the House do not agree with what he is saying makes it difficult for the public to listen in order to appropriately analyze the facts put forward.

Kwesi Pratt called on the MPs to desist from the act because it speaks no good about the legislative body.

SONA 2018: Minority in Parliament heckles Akufo-Addo

As a normal attitude from MPs, most State of the Nation Addresses by Presidents have been coupled with heckling, leaders of the House before the SONA always asked MPs to stop the act but it turns out to be the same for most if not all SNOAs that happen under the Fourth Republic.

The 2018 SONA was no exception when the Minority side from the singing of the National Anthem repeatedly sung the portion that reads "and help us to resist oppressors' rule with all our will and might for evermore."

NDC members in Parliament no longer recognize their founder-Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has expressed disappointment at the attitude of some Minority NDC members refusing to recognize the founder of their party.

At the 2018 State of the Nation Address in Parliament while acknowledges the presence of some former head of states in Parliament, the Minority kept heckling at the President as he mentioned the name of Mr. and Mrs. Rawlings forcing him say “Mr Speaker that is the way of the world, the founder of the party is today no longer recognized by the members of his party.”

The issue of Rawlings as the founder of the party became a debate in the party in 2017 as some members believe he is not the founder but just holding a ceremonial title.
