President Akufo-Addo has visited the house of late MP Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko who passed away last night.
Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko who is an NPP MP died while seeking medical treatment in the US.
President Akufo-Addo and other ministers and executives of the NPP visited the home of the MP at the Airport Hills residence in Accra Thursday morning.
The delegation included Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, Energy Minister John Peter Amewu as well as the NPP national Chairman Freddie Blay and National Organiser Sammy Awuku.The President was scheduled to restart his national tour with the Eastern region where the late MP hails.
Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko who is an indigene from Odumase Krobo in the Eastern region unsuccessfully contested for the Upper Manya Krobo in 2008 but lost.
But he would find political success in the Greater Accra region contesting and winning the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in 2012.
The 60-year-old won the seat even though the then-NPP Presidential candidate Akufo-Addo lost the popular vote in the area.
Speaking on behalf of President Akufo-Addo, the National Organiser of the NPP, Mr Sammy Awuku said: "Hon Agyarko, he is one of the pillars of our party."
"According to Mr President, from his father's era, Hon. Agyarko's father was part of the foundation and the founding members of the UP. Together with his family, they've stayed with the Dankwa-Dombo-Busina tradition.
"Mr President and the National Chairman, concludes that this is our own and we've lost a very great asset. For him as a president, he's lost one of his strongest members of parliament, for us as a party, we've lost one of our strongest Members of Parliament and also one of our pillars."
"Mr President recalls how he is always able to win this constituency in spite of its difficulties, and so he is deeply sad and expresses his deepest sympathies to his wife, the family, to the constituency [Ayawaso West Wuogon] and also to the friends and loved ones," Mr Awuku said.
