President of the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) Prof. Clement Dzidonu said political parties lack long term plan to transform Ghana’s economy.

He said the plans and promises of transforming the economy of the country are not achievable in four years.

Speaking on TV3’s NEW DAY programme on Saturday ahead of the Manifesto launch of the National Democratic Party (NDC), he said government need to deal with the fundamental issues of job creation which could be achievable in 20 years and not four.

“There are brilliant suggestions in the NDC Manifesto about job creation and transformation of the economy but the issue of how to achieve them which takes proper plan and time has not been well tackled,” he stated.

He added that at best, some of the promises could be fulfilled but certainly not all considering the short time limit of four years.

A serious party he said must talk about the economy and present a long term approach to its transformation.

“The economy is not going to change except something fundamental happens to achieve results in long distant time,” he stressed.

The AIT boss said 89 percent of people employed in the country are in the informal private sector which is not good for the growth of the economy.
