Workers of the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission, PURC, have warned they will resist attempts to reinstate resigned Public Affairs and External Relations Manager, Nana Yaa Jantuah.

Ms. Jantuah resigned her position in May this year in the wake of corruption allegations leveled against her and that of the Executive Secretary Samuel Sarpong.  The two, according to the workers, connived and colluded to divert monies meant for the commission’s operations.

Ms. Jantuah is yet to publicly speak on any of the allegations made against her but on Thursday afternoon, workers of the Commission were said to have opposed her presence at the commission’s premises and insisted she be made to go home.

Chairman of the workers union Abukari Jabaru told JoyFM the former spokesperson is not welcome back to the company, especially when she voluntarily resigned without prompting. But he said her relationship with the workers was very poor, as she took steps to divide them.

I can question her human relations,” he said. “You are talking and working with people who don’t feel like coming to work.”

Mr. Jabaru said any attempt to bring Ms. Jantuah back will not be pleasant for anyone since the workers are not prepared to work with her, insisting she was not forced to jump ship.

“Nobody asked her to resign- it was her personal will,” he added.

He wondered why the desperation to push her through especially when there are “competent” people at the commission who can play the same role she once played.

Mr. Jabaru also warned they will not allow the Executive Secretary Samuel Sarpong to assume his role and called for investigations conducted into his activities, made public.

“He is not a fine administrator and we cannot work with him,” he added.

He also warned they will resist attempts to force him on the workers, as offices across the country remain locked up.
