The Kumasi East Rotary Club has made available 30 bags of cement to help carry out urgent repair works at the Manhyia Prison.
This was in response to an appeal made by the management of the prisons.

It additionally, presented cash of GH?1,040.00 to cover the registration fees of eight prisoners, to sit for the information and communication technology (ICT) examination conducted by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

Nana Kofi Ayesu-Boahene, the Club’s Public Image Director, said this was part of their service to humanity.

He added that there could be no doubt that education would empower the inmates to add value to their lives.

It was the way forward to bring down crime in the communities.

He called for all to accept to work together to provide employable skills training to prisoners to enable them live decent lives after serving out their term.

Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Hanson Awuku, the Commander of the Prison, thanked the Club for the gesture and said it would help to prevent accidents.

He used the opportunity to appeal for the supply of printers and internet connection to enhance the teaching and learning of ICT in the prison.
