A former Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Gifty Klenam, has made a significant move by switching from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She announced on Thursday, January 30, after acquiring her NDC membership card in the Anlo Constituency of the Volta Region.

Addressing journalists, Klenam cited ideological alignment and policy confidence as key motivations behind her decision to switch allegiance.

“Upon consultation with my family, I decided to join the NDC because it aligns with my values and vision for mother Ghana,” she stated.

She further expressed strong belief in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto, asserting that it presents the best roadmap for Ghana’s development. According to her, after thorough analysis of the party’s policies, she is convinced that former President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership will steer the nation toward progress and prosperity.

Hon. Klena served as a two-term Member of Parliament for the Lower West Akim constituency, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She was first elected in the 2008 Ghanaian general elections and re-elected in the 2012 general elections.

During her tenure, she represented the Lower West Akim constituency and was a member of the Minority in Parliament.

Hon. Klenam has been a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and chairing the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.
