Scores of canoes and other fishing equipment perished when a storm hit Accra’s coast on Saturday evening eventually bring fishing activities to a standstill.

Although fisher folks were warned about the impending storm, they underestimated its ferocious nature.

“We were supposed to go fishing today, but the development has made it impossible. Almost all of the tools and equipment we use have been destroyed,” a lamenting fisherman stated.

Joy News also reports residents of Fuveme in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have also suffered similar fate thanks to high waves which destroyed property and displaced many.

While the locals want a sea defense barricade to be erected to tame the sea, authorities including Member of Parliament, Clement Kofi Humado insist relocation of the residents to a new site proposed by the Municipal Assembly is the only solution.
