A 14-year-old Form Two student of Twifo Praso DA Basic School tragically lost his life when he drowned in the Pra River in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region.

Eyewitnesses reported that Nana Asamoah AKA “Yesu Papa,” had visited the river with three friends to catch fish, but during their expedition, he allegedly boasted that he could swim across the river’s deepest point, despite warnings from his friends.

Ignoring their advice, Asamoah jumped into the river but failed to resurface, and all attempts by his friends to search for him proved futile.

They therefore reported the incident to the elders of Twifo Praso, who formed a search party and after a thorough search, Asamoah’s body was finally recovered from the river follow a libation and incarnations performed by Okyeame D C Kwakye of Twifo Tuffoe.

The Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Commander, Superintendent Charles Addei Boateng, confirmed the incident and told the GNA that Asamoah’s body had been deposited at the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Hospital mortuary, awaiting further investigation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for caution and respect for the power of nature.
