Unemployed graduate teachers have petitioned the ministry of education as well as the Ghana Education Service to recruit them with immediate effect.
Groups comprising the Assembly of University Trained Teachers of Ghana, Unemployed Education Teachers Alliance and Unemployed Graduate Teachers Association, marched through the principal streets of Accra in a demonstration, Tuesday morning, to create awareness about their plight and to present their petition to the minister of education.

According to them, they are qualified and trained specifically for teaching, however, they have on countless occasions been denied employment since 2011, in spite of earlier engagements with government.Â

}In an interview with Primenewsghana president of the unemployed teachers association, an allied association of the Unemployed Graduate Teachers, Alhassan Baako, explained that a probable reason for their unemployment is that most of the people who are employed as teachers are not trained. Their rightful places have therefore been filled with untrained hands.

}He also urged the Ghana Education service to post them to schools in rural areas where there are vacancies to teach, in order for them to contribute their quota to the education sector.
