The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has initiated an investigation into the alleged abandonment of a patient in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.

The patient, who was admitted at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, was reportedly left in a wheelchair at Ojobi after her relatives failed to show up and was later found dead.

In a statement issued on Friday, June 14, the Ghana Health Service appealed to the public to be patient as they investigate the matter, promising to take appropriate action against anyone found to be connected to the incident.

“The Service wishes to appeal to the general public to be patient as anyone found to be connected with this unfortunate incident will be severely dealt with in accordance with provisions of the Service’s Code of Conduct,” Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS said.
