A number of retired security officers and security detail for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by the Ashanti regional security coordinator of the party. LT. Col. A. Serebour are calling on the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfour Osei Tutu II , former United Nations Security General Kofi Annan, the Peace Council and other relevant bodies to speak against what they call as evil machinations by the NDC to create confusion in the region
According to the opposition party NPP's  security officers, they are reliably inform  that the ruling government has imported arms and ammunition into the Ashanti region to create tension and confusion.Â
Col. A. Serebour said they NPP are also ready to match the NDC squarely and will not depend on the police and will defend themselves if anyone attempts to threaten them. He added that they cannot trust the police and will not depend on their protection but rather defend themselves if members of the ruling government dare attack them.
 "We are ready to defend ourselves if anyone tries to intimidate us. We have told our polling station security agents to deal ruthlessly with anyone who intimidates them. The police have advised us to report any incident of violence to them, my goodness, we will not do that because we will deal ruthlessly with anyone who misbehaves in the region.’’
