Over thousands of generations now, the Jewish community continues to be easy target of intimidation and deeply-rooted prejudices that manifest itself in some of the most creative form of evil ever inflicted on a particular race, or group of people.
From the scriptural account of Jewish slavery in northern Africa to the Nazi’s Holocaust and concentration camps in Europe, the tale of woe of this unique group of people in the human race is endless.
However, that these prejudices still run in modern, democratic and non-Arab societies like the United States is simply appalling. Only in recent weeks 27 Jewish community centers in over 17 US states confirmed receiving hoax bomb threats and an additional 11 more across the country.
Reacting to the developments, US President Donald Trump described the threats targeting the Jewish community centers as “horrible and painful". Later on, an NBC News Interview he said "I will tell you that anti-Semitism is horrible and it's going to stop and it has to stopâ€.
Now the question is: to what extent can such commitment from a US President guarantee the security of this Jews, or perhaps the security of other vulnerable group of people? What would the world look like if there was a multilateral action (by governments and individuals alike) to protect the weak in not just the cities of US but also in the suburbs of Accra, Lagos or Bangalore?
