2024 elections: Police intercept 88 suspected polling station recruits in Western North

The Ghana Police Service is investigating 88 people intercepted on board two Metro Mass Transit buses at Benchema near Asawinso in the Western North Region on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

In a statement, the Police said preliminary investigations indicate that, they were allegedly recruited by a man whose name has only been given as Sammy.

The suspects are from various locations in the Greater Accra Region, including Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina and are allegedly to provide security at polling stations in some constituencies within the Western North Region for the December 7 election.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation and efforts underway to arrest Sammy.
