Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awayaso West Wuogon Constituency Bismark Ayitey, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are in a hurry to complete projects in the constituency ahead of the by-election slated for January 31.
The NDC are questioning the sudden interest in undertaking these projects that have been left abandoned for many years. They are accusing the current NPP government of rolling out quick projects for Ghanaians to win votes in the upcoming by-election.
There are four candidates to contest the by-election, they are NPP's Lydia Alhassan, wife of late Emmanuel Agyarko (former MP of Ayawaso West Wuogon), PPP's William Doworkpor, Delali Kwesi Brempong of the NDC and Clement Boadi of Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
Prominent areas covering Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency include Dworwulu, Bawaleshie, Abelempke, Legon among others.Â
Ayawaso West Wuogon is associated with challenges such as bad roads, lack of street lights in certain areas.
Within the past weeks, contractors have moved to these sites fixing deplorable roads. The NDC is saying the sudden move is politically motivated.
In an interview by citinews monitored by PrimeNewsGhana with constituency Chairman of the NDC, Bismark Ayitey, he said ''Now they are doing those things, we salute them, but I believe that we have discerning people in this constituency who are not going to listen or look at those things to vote''.
