Member of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Most Rev Asante Antwi has warned supporters, not to give the party a bad name as they commemorate the formation of the United Gold Coast Convention(UGCC) and its founding leaders.
Rev. Antwi who spoke to Accra-based Citi FM said, supporters need to be circumspect with their utterances in order not to offend anybody and also drag the name of the party into the mud.
He urged party supporters to keep a very peaceful atmosphere and desist from any form of violence during and after the celebrations.
"It is important for party supporters to maintain a very peaceful and calm atmosphere as is the tradition of our forefathers," he stated.
Rev Asante Antwi condemned the activities of the Pro-vigilante group Invincible Forces saying their actions if not checked would bring the name of the party into disrepute. The group, he said must be warned against the violent posture because the party would not encourage supporters who engaged in lawlessness.
