The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on the Public to disregard a viral video on social media, showing a copy of a supposed Voters Register for Ahafo Ano 1 and 2 being transported in a white pick-up truck along with other registers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the EC clarified that the Voters Register shown in the video is not an official register of the Commission. According to the EC, their registers are black and white, not coloured as depicted in the video.

The Commission further emphasised that the Final Register, which is provided to political parties, is printed by the parties for use by their agents. The truck shown in the video, the EC clarified, does not belong to the Commission.

The Public should disregard the said video. It is calculated to create suspicion and mistrust for the Commission and its work.”

Deputy Chairman of the EC, Samuel Tettey, urged the Police to investigate the matter, noting that the registration number of the pick-up truck, visible in the video, could assist authorities in their probe.
