Western Regional Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party,  Asiedu Kokoro says with the roll out of the Free Senior High School this month, the party’s critics will realise the administration is determined to ensure most children of school going age access education at the basic level at no cost to their parents.
In an exclusive interview with primenewsghana, Mr. Kokoro said, “People thought the free SHS policy would come off next year, but the party has been proactive and determined and as such has been able to start it this academic year 2017/2018. It tells us that the government is well focused.â€
The policy was one of the NPP’s flagship campaign promises and speaking at Okuapim Secondary school, President Akufo-Addo announced the policy was going to be implemented by his government and will open the space for most children to enter school, irrespective of their economic status.Â
A logo was subsequently unveiled and after meeting with the various stakeholders in education, the policy is expected to be rolled out this month, when schools re-open.Â

Already, government officials are confident the policy will further affirm their commitment and promises made to voters at the polls in 2016. Mr. Kokoro, who was speaking to Primenewsghana at the recently held conference in Cape Coast, said the “arrival†of the policy is a sign the government did not lie to the people of Ghana when it promised free education.
He assured the general public that, “the actual areas outlined in the NPP’s manifesto are being worked on, and a year by this time, the narrative will changeâ€.
